Famous as 'The land of the kappa', Tanushimaru claims expertise in growing Grapes, Persimmons and High quality Sake Rice. As a day trip Tanushimaru promises horizons bordered with mountains, beautiful scenery and a number of small streams knotted around the township (where the kappa also live). If you have never heard of (or seen) a kappa, it is a Japanese mythological creature half way crossed between a turtle and a human, however, much smaller in size. In most Japanese folk law the kappa is seen as mischievous and sometimes even malicious however the inhabitants of Tanushimaru with their stream system next to their houses claim that in this land, its citizens live in harmony with the Kappa. I took a trip to this land on one of my days off to check it out =D
