Escape the tourist traps and go and see something sweet! Australia has more to offer than just deserts and beaches! Although not all of the following are accessible by your average tourist. Check out my list of 5 Cool Australian places!
Cleft Island
Cleft Island off the coast of Victoria has to be one of Australia's most epic Islands. Resembling natures Bat-cave it is also called "Skull rock" by the locals. The cavern is 130 meters wide, 60 meters high and 60 meters deep. The island is particularly inaccessible due to high stone walls and no place to anchor a boat. Only for the super adventurous!
Gosses Bluff
What could be cooler than visiting an Meteor Impact site? Imagine a giant burning rock slamming into Australian soil. Located near another of Australia's famous land marks Uluru, why not go and visit both? or even ditch the rock for a much cooler creator! Woohoo!
Lake Hillier
This pink is way to garish for Google Maps! (Why so Yellow??). When you put the two keywords "pink" and "island" together you know you have something cool! The pink comes from a brine loving algea which turns the water this fab colour!
Lord Howe Island
Forget Bondi and Manly beach! Get away from the mainland and go to one of Australia's sweet tropical islands! Lord Howe Island may be expensive to get to, but just look at that view!
Heard and McDonald Island
Off the beaten track and not accessible to normal tourists, Heard and McDonald island being one of the worlds most isolated places will be sure to give you peace and quiet. Heard island, the larger of the two islands is home to Australia's only giant active volcano, Big Ben. I addition, Australia's highest peak, Mawsons peak. Truly one of Australia's most Awesome places.
